What is an Adventurous Life?

Adventurous Spirit — Speakers

The Jonesys

Justin and Lauren are modern day adventurers who believe you shouldn’t have to choose between having a family life and having an adventurous life. They want to challenge the traditional conventions of what it means to ‘settle down’ and prove that becoming a grown up can still be fun.

Samantha Gash

Samantha Gash had a desire to challenge herself and to make a difference in the world. Ambitious, determined, resilient and at times stubborn, Samantha has completed races and expeditions that have taken her to the 4 corners of the earth and impacted the lives of many. She is a World Vision ambassador and most recently completed a 3253km run from the West to East of India exploring the barriers to why children are unable to access quality education.

Mal Macgown

Mal has always nurtured a keen sense of adventure and challenge. With a professional background in dentistry under his belt, he pursued his ultimate career, to serve in the British SAS as a soldier for ten years. He is one of the survivors of the ill-fated B20 mission in Iraq. Since leaving the military, he has engaged in a variety of roles, helping others thrive while satisfying his own curiosity for places and cultures few have the opportunity to explore. He is a counter-terrorist hostage negotiator and leads a specialist team finding and recovering kidnapped or incarcerated victims around the world.

Ky Furneaux

An award-winning international stunt performer, survival expert, tv host and author, Ky’s athletic ability and fight training helped her land notable stuntwoman jobs, including “The Avengers”, “Thor”, “X-Men”, “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Hancock”. 2012 World Stunt Woman of the year. She has participated in Discovery’s ‘Everest of survival shows’ – “Naked and Afraid” proving she has the stamina to survive for 21 days in the deadly Louisiana swamplands. Her book titled “Girl’s Own Survival Guide” helps women confront their fears both in the great outdoors and the Urban Jungle.

Heather Yelland

Heather is a renowned and much sought after international speaker who has travelled the world sharing her belief that all anybody really wants is to love and be loved, and to be known, loved and “got” for who they truly are. With formal training in arts, psychology, family and systems theory and business, Heather has been a ‘people’ specialist for over 30 years. Her ability to get to the heart of what drives and inspires people, what limits them and prevents them from realising their fullest potential has been the foundation of her work.

Heather Miller

New South Wales, Local Woman of the Year 2016, for her dedication and unwavering commitment to magnifying the human spirit, Heather assists organisations such as Scouts Australia and the Anthony Robbins Foundation to develop core content in the space of leadership, emotional intelligence, contribution, bullying, and communication. She leads and facilitates youth leadership development programs globally over the past 5 years and consultants to leading universities on how to reimagine the way they equip graduates to lead the future.

Adventurous Spirit Speaker

Sebastian Terry

Known worldwide for pursuing an incredible list of 100 Things that he wants to achieve before he dies, Sebastian Terry’s story is surprisingly not about a bucket list. It’s about something more far reaching; permission, choice, growth and connection. Affected by a curious mind and the death of a close friend, Sebastian experienced a moment in his life where he asked himself a simple question; ‘Am I happy?’. The answer was NO and so he decided to pen down a list of 100 Things that he’d always wanted to achieve.

Following his heart and armed with nothing but a list, Sebastian's incredible story has grown from an entertaining tale of adventure into a global philanthropic movement that engages a growing tribe of hundreds of thousands to not just set meaningful goals, but pull the trigger and achieve them- all whilst helping others do the same.

Today 100 Things acts as a conduit introducing those in need of help to those who are able to help and in this way the journey has become less about Sebastian's list and more about the art of helping. Sebastian spends his time traveling the world connecting strangers to help each other.

Adventurous Spirit - youth squad

The first of the 2 August Sydney events will be specifically presented to a teenage audience, teachers, principals and youth workers.

One of the most challenging and devastating facts of today’s world is the issue of low self esteem amongst our teenagers. Sharing hashtags is simply not enough. We need to take
action. In a world more connected than ever there is more disconnect than ever.

The best thing we can show our children is that all they need to do is be the best version of themselves. We will select the keynote speakers from our team who have worked with
thousands of youth globally to deliver this message.

They will deliver deep into the hearts of these magnificent beings shedding light on their souls. They will use humour, storytelling and youth talk to share a vision of possibility and
self-belief that this next generation is desperately hungry for. They will show them that it is ok to step into the wilderness of life and share with them the tools to help them navigate the journey.
